

Gracie Evelyn (Siler) Mascari, 86, passed away July 2, 2015 surrounded by family. A long time resident of Memphis and member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, she retired with 23 years’ service from Methodist Hospitals. She was married for 61 years to Salvatore Mascari. In their early years, they enjoyed shooting competitive archery, where Evelyn was named TN state champ. She was an avid gardener, reader and baker, whose cooking touched the hearts and stomachs of family and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore Edward Mascari; parents John Marion and Mary Elizabeth (McCoy) Siler; brothers Glensel Siler, George Siler, and John Siler; sisters Clencie Houchin and Belinda Siler. She leaves behind her daughters Cecilia Hartz, Evonne Mayfield (Leroy), and Patricia Watts (Bennie); son Stephen Mascari (Becky); brother Jelbert Siler; sister-in-law Lucy Mascari Shingle; grandchildren Nichole Mascari, Andrea Geron, Russell Mayfield, Jessica Malcom, Candace McKay, Shelley French, Rachel Bregenzer, and Ted Mayfield; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation is Tuesday, July 7 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
