

James Albert Bain, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born May 23, 1943, to the late Frank Albert and Elizabeth Ann Bain in Memphis, TN. Many knew him simply as Jim. He proudly retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of service. He was also a proud member of the Shriners, Elks Club, AMVETS, and American Legion. He enjoyed the friendships, fellowship, and time spent with the people he met through these organizations. Jim enjoyed golfing, playing poker, and rolling the dice. He was always tinkering with something and loved woodworking and making things with his own hands. He could spend hours working on a project and enjoyed every minute of it. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family meant the world to him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Kay Bain; his parents, Frank Albert and Elizabeth Ann Bain, and two siblings, Ann Karas-Pierson and Jewell Franklin Bain. Jim leaves behind 9 children: Sheila Ann McBride, Timothy Wayne Bain, James Allen Bain, Danice Kay Bain Monroe (John), LeAnn Marie Havill (John), MAJ. Ashley M. Bain (MSG Greg Hudgens), Donna Moore, Sandra Szekely, Stacey Hoing (Ricky); two siblings, Linda Ashton (Roy), Patrick Bain (Gail), and an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will be at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
