It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Mr. James F. Barnett, Jr. Lovingly called Mr. B by generations of children, Mr. B taught at Sacred Heart from 1972-1999. He would often say that he taught "truth" class but was involved with numerous subjects including teaching Law, Social Studies, Religion, English, Math, Civics, Library, and starting Sacred Heart's computer program. Mr. B was also involved with the school's church choir, was an organist at area parishes, worked as a choir director, and participated in the Legion of Mary. Born on March 11, 1929, Mr. B recently celebrated his 88th birthday. Let us remember all that Mr. B did for our Sacred Heart family and pray that he is enjoying the company of our Lord and the saints, including his patron St. Francis of Assisi. Mr. B was preceded in death by his parents, James Barnett, Sr. and Bessie W. Barnett. He is survived by his son, Abdulkarim Aburuqiba (Majda Alhillu) and five grandchildren. There will be a Visitation and rosary on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 12pm followed by the Funeral Mass 1pm at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Memphis. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Due to Holy Week, no flowers will be accepted at church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
