James E. "Jimmy" Rye, Jr.

James E. “Jimmy” Rye, Jr., 74, of Olive Branch, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. He was retired from General Electric, a former gun pro and skeet instructor with Memphis Gun Club and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Rye, the husband of Sandra Rye for 37 years, also leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Michael Rutherford of Collierville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Donny Rye of Huntington Beach, CA, Paul Shannon Rye of Olive Branch and Danny and Terri Schmitz of Beebe, AR; a sister, Susan Gilbert of Oakland, TN, two brothers, Bill Rye of Lakeland, TN and Benny Rye of Memphis; ten grandchildren, Karlee, Kayla and Blake Randle, Jonathan, Christina and Heather Rye, Madelyn Shea Rye, James Austin Rye, Jessica Crump and Patrick Rutherford and three great grandchildren, James Austin Rye, Jr., Kynlee and Owen Millar. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernest and Lula Long Rye, Sr. and a brother, Johnnie Rye. The family will receive guests this evening, Friday, January 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St in Olive Branch. Mr. Rye’s services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Lebanon Cemetery in McRae, AR.
