James L. Mitchell, 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at his residence in Byhalia, MS. A Korean War Veteran, Mr. James was a carpenter and owned Mitchell Construction. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Mitchell; a daughter, Shirley Ables; a sister, Imojean Erwin, and three brothers, Amos Mitchell, O.C. Mitchell and Elmo Mitchell. Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Ables; two sons, Terry Mitchell and Michael Mitchell; a sister, Rebeccah Gurley and a brother, Sonny Mitchell. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:00 am with visitation an hour prior at Brantley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Byhalia Cemetery.
