James Otis Smith, age 83 of Southaven passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013. He was born March 22, 1930 in Memphis to the late James M. Smith and Martha Victoria Rhodes Smith. He was retired US Army. He was baptized at Central Church of Christ in Oakland, California. Mr. Smith was a member of Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Marie Smith; two sons, Adrian and Glen (Celeste) Smith ; two brothers, Leandra and Harold Smith; three grandchildren, Antonette, Charlene, and Seth Smith, and a host of friends and other relatives. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, December 20 at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10 till service time. Burial will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
