

James Dee Voyles, 92, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at his residence in Olive Branch, MS. JD retired as a Railroad Engineer after 37 years with Frisco/BNSF railroad. He was a Navy Veteran on the USS Belleau Wood during World War II. His greatest passion in life was working and spending time with his family. On any given day, you could either find JD working or fishing. He loved being outdoors and listening to music. JD is preceded in death by his wife of 58 1/2 years Viola Elizabeth Voyles; a grandson, Wally Voyles, and three sisters, Evelyn Graham, Maxine Melter and Nell Brown. He is survived by his best friend and loving caregiver, Dotty Bowles; four sons, Melvin (Lil) Voyles of Hernando, MS, Randy (Betty Ann) Voyles of Jackson, MS, Robert (Jane) Voyles of North Little Rock, AR, and Jeff (Mimi) Voyles of Franklin, TN; a daughter, Betty (Barry) Carter of Collierville, TN; two brothers, Carlton Lee Voyles of Walnut, MS, and Lenzie F. Voyles of Tiplersville, MS. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, seven great grand children, and two great great grandchildren. Family will receive guests Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Brantley Funeral Home. 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017, at 2:00 pm with visitation an hour prior at Brantley Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made in JD's Memory to First Baptist Church of Olive Branch or a charity of donor's choice. Internment will be at Blocker Cemetery.
