Jeannie Irene Smith, aged 63, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 6, 2024, embraced by her loving family. Her journey began on November 17, 1960, in Selma, Alabama, as the cherished daughter of the late James and Dorothy Fike. She was deeply devoted to her family, finding joy in their company throughout her life. Jeannie delighted in moments spent watching "The Price is Right," "The Young and the Restless," and "The Bold and the Beautiful." Which she called them her stories. An avid collector of movies, Jeannie found pleasure in exploring various genres on screen. Her affection extended to her beloved cats and dogs, who brought warmth and companionship to her days. She also loved to go shopping, yard sales and flea markets. Jeannie cherished every moment shared with her family and adored the laughter and love of her grandchildren. Working in the yard brought her a sense of fulfillment, reflecting her diligent and nurturing nature. Known for her industrious spirit, she found joy in lending a helping hand to others, embodying kindness and generosity in every gesture. Her gentle demeanor and soft-spoken words enveloped those around her with comfort, much like a warm embrace on a cold day. Celebrating holidays was a special joy for Jeannie, who reveled in the festivities with enthusiasm. Her radiant smile illuminated every room, a reflection of her boundless and unconditional love for all. She treasured her husband, Joe, and found happiness in sharing her home with her beloved brother, Ronnie. Jeannie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bennie Smith; her grandson, Kent Rangel, and great granddaughter, Miracle Rangel; her parents, James and Dorothy Fike; brother, Ronald Fike; sister, Sandy Fike; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Bessie Walker; paternal grandparents, Rufus and Jennie Fike, and her ex-husband, Johnny Witcher. She leaves behind three daughters, Tena McDowell (Daniel), Sharon Rangel (Rafael), Inez Witcher; two brothers, James Fike (Becky), Billy Fike (Gloria); four sisters: Charlotte Whittington (Larry), Peggy Lawson (Bryant), Carolyn Quade (Donald), and Belinda Hall (Alan). Jeannie also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Kristopher Witcher, Kasey McDowell, Keri McDowell, Lillian Sykes, Keith Rangel, Kevin Rangel, Kyleigh Waldrop, and one great granddaughter, Sophia Rangel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 4:00 pm with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654.
