Jim Tom “Tommy” Emmons, Jr., of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. He was born on November 11, 1944. Tommy was an avid and gifted athlete who brought passion and determination to every sport he played. He competed in tennis and basketball at Freed-Hardeman College, where he met the love of his life, Joann. They were married for 60 years, building a partnership that became the foundation of his greatest joy—his family. Tommy was the proud father of three beautiful girls, a role he cherished above all others. He worked in car sales and finance, where his strong work ethic and friendly spirit earned the trust and friendship of many. In 1991 he achieved the remarkable milestone of bowling a perfect game, one of his proudest accomplishments. He continued to bowl regularly until November 2025, and his dedication to the sport led to his induction into the Amateur Bowling Hall of Fame in 2014. Known for his competitive spirit, Tommy enjoyed encouraging others to improve and was never shy about offering advice to help them be their best. Above all, Tommy treasured his family. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and supported them wholeheartedly in every activity. Whether in rain, snow, or the Memphis summer heat, he was always in the stands cheering them on. His heart grew even larger with the arrival of his eight great-grandchildren, and he had a special love for babies and the joy they brought to his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Tom Emmons, Sr.; his mother, Jeanette Emmons; his sisters, Wanda Bawcum and Sara Wyand; his brothers-in-law, Junior Bawcum and Keith Wyand; and his son-in-law, Michael Hardeman. Tommy is survived by his devoted wife, Joann Emmons of Collierville; his daughters, Dana Nance (Tim) of Memphis, Terri Plunk (Mike) of Collierville, and Micki Hardeman Patterson (Ray) of Hernando; his grandchildren, Jonathan Nance (Erika) of Oakland, Chris Nance of Memphis, Joshua Nance of Memphis, Hunter Nance of Memphis, Karli Cummings (David) of Hernando, Corey Hardeman (Sara) of Bartlett, Reagan Plunk (Josh) of Collierville, and Harrison Plunk of Collierville; and his great-grandchildren, Jaxon Nance, Brayden Nance, Evie Nance, Colton Cummings, Caroline Cummings, Connor Cummings, Briar Nance, and Joann Plunk-Anderson. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654.
