Joe Franklin Taylor, 91, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. Born on December 15, 1934, in Martin, Tennessee, Joe lived a life marked by faithful service, quiet humility, and unwavering devotion to his Lord, his wife, and his family.
Joe deeply loved his wife, Charlotte, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and making lasting memories. Whether exploring new places or working in his yard at home, Joe found joy in God’s blessings and treasured every moment spent with those he loved.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before beginning a distinguished career as a computer programming specialist. He worked for Ely Walker, Malone & Hyde, and NBC Bank, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic.
A faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church, Joe joyfully served the Lord in many capacities over the years. He faithfully served as a deacon, welcomed countless people as a church greeter, and quietly met the needs of his church family wherever he was needed. His life was a testimony of humble service and steadfast faith in Jesus Christ.
Above all else, Joe would want to be remembered for his devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; his beloved wife, Charlotte; his church; and his family. His legacy is one of faithfulness, integrity, humility, and love. Though he will be greatly missed, his family rejoices in the assurance that he is now in the presence of the Savior whom he faithfully served throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orman and Ruby Taylor; his brothers, Gene Taylor (Jessie), Jimmie Taylor (Carolyn), and Don Taylor (Margie); his sister, Robbie Shaw (John, Sr.); and his brother-in-law, Lyniel Huffman.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Charlotte; his sisters, Emma Huffman and Linda Vatter (Clarence); and many beloved nieces and nephews, who affectionately knew him as “Uncle Joe.” Though he had no children of his own, he took a genuine interest in the lives of his nieces and nephews, always encouraging them, celebrating their accomplishments, and cherishing every opportunity to spend time with them. His quiet example of faith, integrity, and kindness left a lasting impression on each of them.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM at Broadway Baptist Church, 7400 Getwell Rd Southaven, MS 38672. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods, 5485 Hacks Cross Rd. Memphis, TN 38125.
