Mr. JV was such a great man and there are so many of us whose life he touched. I was a lucky one who worked with John at Kiawah Island resort and he promoted me to my first Executive Chef position. His advice and leadership changed my life. Later I opened the Crowne Plaza in Memphis and he was running the Peabody. Friendly competitor and I loved to talk food with that man. After I left the culinary world for education, I was lucky enough to work at New Mexico State University. Lo and behold, Mr. JV was leading the opening team for the Inn of the Mountain Gods new Casino resort. What always struck me was that he communicated and touched every employee in every position at every property he guided. He learned who his people were and treated them with respect and courage. The world is such a better place because of John Voegler.

My dearest friend and mentor - you will always remain in my heart and soul. I will continue to share your wisdom and teachings with others. I would not be the person I am today had God not put you in my life when he did. My love to you always - your Queen
