Joyce Ann Booker, 87, of Southaven, Mississippi, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, October 16, 2026. Born on April 19, 1939, Joyce was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Dixon Booker. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Wallace and Malcolm Booker. Joyce is survived by her loving nephews, Danny Booker (Carmen) of Yukon, Oklahoma; Mack Booker (Raynae) of Yukon, Oklahoma; Harold Booker (Sandy) of Houston, Texas; and Wayne Booker of Lawrenceville, Georgia; along with her nieces, Karen Brandon of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Susan Callahan (Pat) of Abilene, Texas; dear friend Dawn Meyers-Wright of Southaven, Mississippi; and many other cherished family members and loved ones. Joyce was blessed with a very special friendship of more than 60 years with Sue Lytle. Through countless memories, laughter, and life’s ups and downs, their friendship stood the test of time. Especially during Joyce’s last eight years of illness, Sue was someone she looked forward to seeing each day and knew she could always count on. That trust brought Joyce comfort and peace, knowing Sue would be there for her, just as she was until the very end. Joyce dedicated 35 years of her career to BellSouth/AT&T, where she served as an outside foreman and supervisor of technicians. She took pride in her work and the many relationships she built throughout her career. A member of Carriage Hills Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi, Joyce lived a life filled with friendship, laughter, and genuine connections with others. Joyce was truly one of a kind. Full of life, always happy, and never one to hold back what she thought, she was a woman who meant what she said and said what she meant. She had a wonderful love for life and especially enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with friends, playing golf, and taking short trips. Through life’s many ups and downs, Joyce continued to greet others with a smile and a warm heart. She had a special way of making those around her feel welcome and important, always more interested in learning about others than talking about herself. The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the compassionate caregivers of Senior Care and Hospice. A special thank-you to LaTosha (Tosh) Breakfield, whose devoted care, kindness, and companionship brought Joyce comfort and joy throughout her final years. Her edication will always be remembered with heartfelt gratitude. Joyce will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her honesty, her love of fellowship, and the lasting friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, cherished memories, and a reminder of just how much it means to simply be there for one another. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved Joyce can find comfort in knowing that her life was filled with meaningful relationships and that she was surrounded by love until the very end. A graveside service will be held at New Salem Church Cemetery (9131 CR-301, Walnut, MS 38683) on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11:00 am.
