Kenneth and Kathy Gray, of Nesbit, MS went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2026. The Grays met at Marked Tree Church of God and were married there on December 26, 1972. When they married, Kathy was 17 and Ken was 21. They were a beautiful example of what Christian marriage should be. They did everything together and you never saw one without the other. After 53 years of marriage, the Lord gave them the blessing of being called home to Heaven on the same day just hours apart. Their faith in Jesus was their driving force in life. They both pursued careers in ministry later in life. In her mid-30s, Kathy became an RN so that she could minister to people at the end of their life in hospice care. Ken became a minister and served in different churches and was active in prison ministry. Ken also had a heart for the youth, and made sure that any church he served in had an active youth ministry. Kathy was blessed by God with the gift of singing and leading worship. She served the Lord with this gift in the churches they attended throughout the years. In their free time, you could find them watching the Arkansas Razorbacks play, whether it be football, basketball, or baseball. One of their greatest joys in life was being “Mammaw and Pappaw” to their grandchildren. They faithfully prayed for all their children and grandchildren every day. Ken and Kathy were both preceded in death by their parents and several brothers and sisters. They are survived by their daughter, Keri Deaton (Justin); daughter, Melissa Couch (Chris); daughter, Kristyl Lawson (Steve); grandchildren: Madison Powell (Benton), Matthew Montgomery (Nina), Jake Scott, Natalie Deaton, Sara Couch, Brandon Couch, Joseph Lawson, and Victoria Lawson; great-grandchildren: Collins Powell, Boone Powell, and Harper Montgomery; and several brothers and sisters. A celebration of life for the Grays will be held at a later date.
