Lawrence “Larry” Payne, 88, of Southaven, MS went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Flynn and Emma Payne; sister, Bonnie Smith; and brothers: Bobby Payne, Johnny Payne, and Tommy Payne. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Lewelling Payne; son, Kevin Payne(Jennifer); granddaughter, Anna Payne Baker(Matt); brother, Ronald Payne; and many nieces and nephews. Larry served our country in the United States Army. He retired after 40 years in the transportation industry where he held many positions over the years. He was a hardworking man and loved to work with his hands. He was truly a “jack of all trades”. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His family was the most important thing in his life and he loved them dearly. Larry was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of the Baptist faith. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at West Heights Cemetery in Pontotoc, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.
