Lonnie T. “Nat” Smith, 90, of Como, passed away September 24, 2011, at his home. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, September 26, and funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Independence, MS. Mr. Smith was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in Germany, Italy, and France. He retired from Panola County where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, and he was a 30 year member of the Como Volunteer Fire Department and a longtime member of Como Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Smith; three daughters, Rita Riley (David), Lonnie Woolever (Dave), and Linda Saino; his son, Danny Smith (Cathy); seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene Smith and Joe Smith.
