

Mack L. Washburn, 90, passed away Sunday, November 4. Born February 11, 1922 in Reagan, TN, to the late Ervin and Edna Washburn. He served in the United States Army in Europe during WWII. After deployment overseas in 1944, he participated in the Normandy Invasion, the campaigns in Northern France and earned five Battle Stars. Mack married Wilma Faye Stewart in 1946, building their home in Memphis. Mack served as a Live Stock Inspector for the Department of Agriculture for 33 years. He was a lifelong member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Mack was involved with Saddle Clubs throughout his life. He served as President of Frontier, Briarwood, Graceland, Wolfes and Capleville Saddle Clubs and the Southern Amateur Saddle Club Association (SASCA). He recently volunteered to drive his tractor at the Olive Branch Christmas Parade with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in tow. Mr. Washburn was preceded in death by his infant son and daughter Larry and Teresa; brothers Milton Washburn, James Washburn, Lavon Washburn; sisters Alie Washburn, Lavonia Washburn, Hazel Cooper, Verma Poole, Tolice Goudy. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Faye Washburn; daughters Cherrie Roberts Lovitt and Kay Gilton (Marshal) of Olive Branch; sons Mike Washburn (Janice) of Eads, TN and Danny Washburn (Mike Lauderdale) of Memphis; his grandchildren Lisa McDermott (Frank), Phil Roberts, Bobby Roberts (Cheryl), Stephanie Miller (Dean), Elaine Clowers (Charles), David Washburn (Ragan), and Rachel Washburn; his beloved great-grandchildren Amber Strange Cornelius (John), Cayce McDermott, Lane Bryson, Collin Roberts, Dalton Roberts, Auston Sell, Dawson Miller, Anna Miller, Caleb Clowers, Ethan Clowers; and his sister Betty Jo Beecham (Earl) of Horn Lake, MS and brother Frank Washburn (Peggy) of Reagan, TN. Mack is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Truly, he was a godly man, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and brother. We will miss him greatly in this earthly life, but know confidently with blessed assurance that we shall see him again in Heaven. We love you, PawPaw.
