Marc Steven Sones

Marc Steven Sones passed from this life into the presence of his Savior on June 3, 2026. We rejoice in the hope of eternal life and knowing he is completely healed and at peace after a lengthy illness. He continually assured everyone, “I’ll be alright”. He was born on February 1, 1960, in Jacksonville, Florida, spending his early childhood living in Florida, Texas, and Colorado before moving to Memphis. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1978, married his high school girlfriend in 1980, and owned Sones Construction Company. He loved working with children and serving senior adults. He was actively involved in scouting, serving as Scoutmaster for Troop 234 in Olive Branch. He served for over 20 years at Longview Heights Baptist Church in the areas of security, Vacation Bible School, the homebound ministry, and preschool Sunday School, where he was affectionately known as “The Fruit Loop Man” because he brought them to the little children every Sunday. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and watching any form of God’s creation. He was truly an animal whisperer; even the hummingbirds, frogs, and salamanders stopped to listen to his voice. In recent years, he has enjoyed spending time at home with grandchildren and his furbaby Smoky. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Sones; his brother, Mike Sones, and Zelda Scott, whom he cared for 20+ years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Sones; his father, Robert Sones of Saulsbury, TN; his children, Matthew (Ambra) of Hernando, Sarah (Dillon) of Red Banks, Andrew (Gabby) of Hernando; three siblings, Ted (Linda) Sones, Loralei Morgan, and Rick (Traci) Sones. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Case, Harlie, Braxton, Presley, Finley, Hudson, Ansley, Dawson, Kash, and another granddaughter arriving in September. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Longview Heights Baptist Church, 4501 Goodman Rd. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Longview Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 85 Misterton Rd. Grenada, MS 38901.
