

Mark was born in Woodside, Long Island, New York to James and Ismay White in 1932. He grew up in Yonkers, New York attending Public School 23, Barnard High School, and he graduated from New York University in 1954. He met his wife, Eileen, of 69 years while she attended Hunter College in New York. The Army drafted him two weeks after graduation. After a year in the Army, they were married on July 2, 1955. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, they moved to Baltimore, Maryland where they began a family.
Mark was called to enter the study program for the Permanent Diaconate and was ordained on 11-10-1974. His Ministry included being on the altar, preaching, bring communion to the sick and other Diaconal duties. He worked with battered women for four years and was in prison ministry for forty six years, which during that time he worked with men on death row in Nashville, Tennessee. He celebrated fifty years of ordination on 11-10-2024 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ismay (Fleming) White, his wife Eileen Agnes (Magee) White, his brother James C. White, and his daughter, Alyson White Hazelton. He is survived by his sons Mark Jr. (Clarita) of Grand Blanc, MI, Brian (Donna) of Parsons, TN, Paul (Michelle) of Olive Branch, MS, and David (Lihong) of Clarkston, MI. His surviving grandchildren are Andrew (Rebekah), Alexander (Shara), Nicholas, Benjamin (Jeff), Kaylee, Brendan, and Ismay. His surviving greatgrandchildren are Lydia, Ruby, Theodore, and Sullivan.
Since Mark and Eileen’s trip to Africa in 2013, they have encouraged the education of children at Our Lady of Nazareth School in Nairobi, Kenya, through their continuous contributions and correspondence with the children. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, located at 6875 Cockrum Street, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM at Queen of Peace, 8455 Germantown Rd. Olive Branch, Ms 38654.
