Marlon W. Godsey, 88, of Olive Branch MS, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at his home. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elwanda Hudson, his brother, Vernon Godsey and a great niece, Rose Marie Clark. Marlon is survived by his twin sister, Lydia Clark and his brother, Donald Godsey and 9 Nieces and Nephews. Marlon served in the US Navy from 1950-1954 during which time he served in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Boxer. Marlon was an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge. He could be seen daily at the YMCA in Olive Branch where he enjoyed his work outs and visiting with friends. Marlon was a thoughtful and caring man who loved to spend time with his family. Marlon received his Bachelor of Education from Memphis State University and a Master’s Degree in Education and Phycology from the University of Mississippi. He was a High School Teacher in various cities and a College Professor at Apalachicola Florida Junior College. Marlon retired in 1990 as Dean of Students from Chipola College in Marianna, FL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 12-1pm at the Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. The funeral service will be held at 1pm. There will be a Committal at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery immediately following the service.
