Martha dedicated over 25 years to serving her community as a dispatcher and reserve officer, working in both Southaven Police Department and DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department. Her passion for helping others shone through in her work and daily life. A true animal lover, Martha had a special fondness for dogs and would have taken in every dog she saw if she could.
Martha had a deep love for roses and made sure her husband planted a beautiful garden full of them. These vibrant flowers brought her great joy and were a constant reminder of her nurturing spirit. Her favorite color was red, a hue she loved so much that she had her husband paint the interior of their home a rich crimson, a color that lasted for years.
Family was everything to Martha. She cherished her time spent with her husband, sister, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Sundays were particularly special to Martha, as she made it a tradition to spend the day window shopping—though she didn’t always buy much, the outings brought her great joy. She also looked forward to these outings with her sister, making Sunday a day of bonding and laughter.
Martha’s generous spirit, love for family, and devotion to service will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Charlie Mae Green, and her brother, Jimmy Green.
Martha leaves behind the love of her life of 43 years, Kevin Semmendinger, four children: Stephen Rodgers (Tiffany), Kristoffer Semmendinger, Lacy Hall, Kevin Semmendinger Jr.; her sister and best friend, Renda Sullivan. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Teal, Stephen, Joy, Alexis, Hannah, Charlie, Piper, Kaleb, and three great-grandchildren, Tucker, Kinsley, and Brynlee.
