Marvin served as a Military Police Officer in the army. After his time in the military, Marvin worked at the Memphis Defense Depot for 35 years, where he eventually retired. While working at the Defense Depot, Marvin earned his Associate’s Degree in Accounting at Draughon’s College.
Marvin, also affectionately known as “Papaw” and “MarMar,” always enjoyed fixing things around the house, engineering new inventions, hanging out with his beloved pup, Sugar, watching the University of Tennessee Women’s Basketball Team, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Marvin had two children with Catherine Arnold - Jeff Bonner of Naples, FL and Renée (Bonner) McCaskill of Olive Branch, MS.
Marvin is survived by his children, Jeff Bonner and Renée McCaskill (Jeff), grandchildren, Lindsey Alexander (Cale), Jesse Oliver (Natasha), Courtney McCaskill, Abbey McCaskill, Drew McCaskill, and his Sister, Jeanette Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Carlotta Bonner, his siblings, Eddie (Bill) Bonner Jr., Robert Bonner, and Richard Bonner, and his partner, Ann Oliver.
The family has entrusted Brantley Funeral Home with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 24th at 9AM at 6875 Cockrum Street, Olive Branch, MS 38654. Celebration of Life Services will begin at 10AM. Graveside Services will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Pastor Justin “Fish” Robinson will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be Cale Alexander, Drew Fabrizius, Lance Diaz, David Boswell, Al Bonner, and James Barulli.

Donations may be made to Tunica Humane Society in memory of Marvin Bonner and his pup, Sugar, to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Marvin’s brother, Bill, or to the Memphis Chapter of Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
