

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Zora Mae Davis; her beloved husband, Leon Ashmore, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage; and her son, Kendall Ashmore.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tina Hughes (Darrell); her grandchildren, Mary Katherine “Katie” Thornton (Brent), Karlie Lewis (Dr. Mark Lewis), Macy Patton (Jace), and Mallory Ashmore; her great-grandchildren, Benton Lewis, Porter Lewis, Georgia Thornton, and Lottie Thornton; her sisters, Betty Gillum and Irma Davis; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Cathy was born on December 9, 1944, in Batesville, Mississippi, to Harley and Zora Mae Davis. She was raised in Batesville and graduated from Batesville High School. While working at Fred’s Dollar Store, she met the love of her life, Leon Ashmore. They were married on September 1, 1963, and built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
After raising her two children, Cathy began a successful career at Rexel, Inc., where she worked for over 25 years.
A devoted follower of Christ, Cathy faithfully served as an active member of Central Baptist Church in Meridian, Mississippi, for 37 years before relocating to Southaven, where she became a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and participated in mission trips to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, sharing her faith and compassion with others.
Nothing brought Cathy greater joy than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a servant’s heart and was known for making everyone feel welcome. An avid quilter and talented crafter, Cathy delighted in creating handmade gifts for those she loved. She was also an exceptional baker and made sure every family gathering and celebration included a delicious homemade dessert. Her kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and love for others will be remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Broadway Baptist Church on 7400 Getwell Road, Southaven MS 38672.

Graveside service immediately to follow at Forest Hill South Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and son.
Though deeply missed, Cathy leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, and selfless service that will continue to inspire her family and all who were blessed to know her.
