Southaven - Mary Dean Holland Lane passed away January 9, 2013 in Nashville, TN. Mary Dean was born December 7, 1931 to Clyde E and Marders Kirby Holland. She was born several months premature at home during an era when almost all severely premature babies did not survive. It has been lovingly said by friends and family that this was the last time she was ever early for anything. She could not talk without moving her hands and insisted on adding “er” to many words. All this and much more, endeared her to us.The Lord definitely had a special mold for Mary Dean. Mary Dean served at Baptist Hospital in Memphis for thirty six years retiring for the first time in 1996. Also during that time she served as a loyal help mate to her late husband, Talmadge H. Lane as he pastored several Nazarene churches in the Memphis area. After her first retirement she managed for several years WFIM-FM, then a Christian radio station of which Talmadge was a co-owner. A servant at heart, she also spent many years at Talmadge’s bedside as he needed round the clock care.President of the Missionary Society, she was able to go a mission trip to Honduras with her husband and son a few years ago. Simple goodness is the adjectives that describe her life. In her last few years as her own health began to fail, she still gave all she had to care for others. Always an encourager and faithful in intercessory prayer, many will miss her lifting us up in prayer. Lovingly known as Aunt Nean to a host of nieces and nephews. To God be the glory for this fruitful life. Mary Dean is survived by her son, David Michael (Mike) Lane (Susan); granddaughters, Lindsay Jeanne Jennings (Seth) and Jacquelyn Susanne Harris (Justin); great-grandchildren, Roman William Jennings and Josephine (Posey) Boothe Jennings; brothers Clyde, James (Nancy), Charles (Sydney), Paul Anthony Holland; sisters Joann Vandervort (Floyd) and the late Dorothy Jean Mitchell (Charles); faithful friends Anna Daniels and Brenda Joyner. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, MS.
