Gram. Pat Eldred. A faithful follower of Christ. A cherished friend, sister, grandmother, mother, and adoring wife.
She was filled with love for her family, friends, and college football “Go Tigers - the purple ones”.
She left her Byhalia home for flight attendant school in Atlanta, Georgia. She then became a stewardess for Delta Airlines in Memphis. At the time stewardesses were not allowed to be married. She did not let this stop her love for Darrell, as they were married before she put those wings behind her.
She spent her days tending her flowers, along with feeding every stray hummingbird in Desoto County.
She was devoted to Bible study as well as getting her hair done. She was a classy lady from her hair to her shoes but would drop everything to spoil her great grand kids with ice cream.
She was trusted by friends and family to be one you could confide in. She felt her friends’ and family’s problems and would pray for them. She would worry about them. She deeply cared for those She loved.
She would always accept a social visit on the back porch or margaritas at the Mexican restaurant.
Over the years, she was handed some questionable real estate investments that she, hand-in-hand with her husband, turned into award-winning memory-filled homes.
She was the Weaver of love and laughter for her family.
If you ever experienced a car ride with her, you quickly learned her love for music by how loud Bob Seger or Rod Stewart would be blaring out of the radio speakers.
Her life started on a dairy farm, she did her best to stay away from that life but happily spent her remaining days alongside her loving husband looking into an old pasture, reading books on her porch with a milking barn behind her.
I personally will always fondly envision her and Pop taking Gabby for their evening stroll in the lower field. I smile knowing she is doing the same with our Lord waiting for the day her and my Pop are walking hand in hand again in heavenly pastures.
