Patricia Howard of Olive Branch, Mississippi met Jesus on December 21st. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Robert and Virginia Maynard. During her broad experience in life, she lived in Memphis and Johnson City TN, Huntington WV, Lone Oak and Paducah KY, Hagerstown MD, Knoxville TN, and Olive Branch MS. She graduated from East High School in Knoxville TN and went to work as a legal assistant in Memphis. Several years later she accepted an incredible opportunity to be a junior analyst for Memphis Light, Gas, and Water where she worked for nearly 30 years investing millions of dollars each day ensuring the financial wellbeing of our local utility. She met the singular love of her life, Charles “Charlie” Howard in 1970 and they were married soon after, in October of 1971. She graduated from the University of Mississippi later in life, showing her children that it is never too late to learn. She was a proud Ole Miss Rebel and was rarely seen without some sort of team gear on. She and Charlie were long time members of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch. She was a very proud breast cancer survivor and advocate for early detection and care. Pat’s most beautiful passion was helping others. She was known for doing the little things that people didn’t see so much, but everyone knew who to ask for things like that. She was an emergency babysitter, ride to and from school when you didn’t have a car and didn’t speak the language so well, every young person she knew’s encourager-in-chief, the protector of families, and very possibly the best little sister in life until the day she left us. Pat was pre-deceased by her husband, Charlie, brother, Robert, and her mother and father. She leaves behind a daughter, Kelley, a step-son, Marty, and a nephew, Phillip, along with two loving sisters, Becky and Liz, as well as many nieces and nephews, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. We will celebrate Pat’s life on December 29th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch MS. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
