Percy Payne Pounders, Jr., 97, of Olive Branch, MS went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Mr. Pounders was preceded in death by his wife, Shirlie Clayton Pounders; and his daughter, Pamela Pounders Quesenberry. He was a graduate of Olive Branch High School and furthered his education at various universities. He served our country during WWII in the United States Army Air Force. After his military service, he managed his father’s dairy farm. He later owned and operated a truck line and the dairy farm. Mr. Pounders was the last presidential appointed Postmaster of the Olive Branch Post office. He was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Outside his professional work, he was involved in many things in the Olive Branch community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, DeSoto Co. Farm Bureau, Lions Club, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars just to name a few. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and was a member of Barton United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at Brantley Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 5-7 pm. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm, also at Brantley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Barton United Methodist Church in Byhalia, MS.
