

She was born on August 9, 1931 in Derma, Mississippi to Henry Allen and Annie Belle Jones.
Rachel spent her younger years along with her four sisters in Calhoun City, Mississippi before moving to Memphis to work at Walgreens. She married her beloved husband, Frank Norris McPhail, Sr. on January 20, 1950.
In her retirement years, Rachel and Frank enjoyed traveling to various locations across the United States with their siblings and their spouses. Together Rachel and Frank were blessed with 3 children – Lynn, Gail, and Frank Jr. Rachel and Frank were charter members of Brooks Road Baptist Chapel (later becoming Hickory Hills Baptist Church) in Memphis, TN where they served the lord faithfully and raised their children in the ways of the Lord. Rachel and Frank continued to serve faithfully in their latter years at First Baptist Coldwater (Mississippi).
One of their ministries were to the residents and staff at Senatobia Healthcare Center every Sunday during the 80s and 90s where they lead music and taught Bible lessons. Several of those care givers who worked at Senatobia Healthcare Center during those years are some of those who cared for Rachel during her stay there this past year.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband Frank McPhail, Sr., her father and mother, Henry Allen and Annie Belle Jones and sisters Billie Irene Beasley and Martha Nell Foshee.
Rachel is survived by her two daughters Lynn Reece (Jerry) and Gail Hollaway and
Son, Frank McPhail Jr. (Sheryl) and two sisters, Eunice Carter and Bonnie Merritt. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Jeremy Reece (Kristi), Jarrod Reece, Melissa Ray (Kevin), Andrew Hollaway (Cherie), Elise Wood (Jay), Ryan McPhail (Beverly), Pete McPhail (Amy), Daniel McPhail (Olivia); 12 great grandchildren: Bailey Reece, Gracen Reece, Tate Reece, Morgan Hollaway, Connor Metts, Sawyer Metts, Avonelle McPhail, Pashby McPhail, Adalynn McPhail, Domenic McPhail, Julianna McPhail, Shepherd McPhail.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Coldwater, 465 Central Ave, Coldwater, MS 38618. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
