My thoughts and prayers go out to Dan Allens family! I was married to the big star/piggly wiggly family at one time and I vividly remember he being one of the brightest lights in the buisness more than any other besides my husband at the time. God bless! You will be missed!!

I remember Mr Allen when he owned the Dan's Big Star on Winchester and Hickory Hill Road-a distinguished man who would walk around his store with his sleeves rolled up and would always ask if he could be of assisatance, in time of need, blessing to his family and may this great American live in peace thereafter, Jim C.

As sadness overwhelms us at certain times in our lives, we have unforgettable memories. The mind's eye shall never forget: the ole homestead visits in Homestead, Florida, swinging on the grand patio, amidst the masses of Avocado trees, the hunting cabin in Mississippi (where I shot my first skeet), on the 4-wheelers traveling through the soy bean fields, the numerous Quails Unlimited gatherings, the frying of fresh fish brought up from the Florida Keys, when visiting, the instructions of wrapping the quail in bacon prior to grilling, and the list goes on. We shall never forget such a wonderful man, husband, father and friend, who made each one of us feel like family. He certainly will be missed. Love to the entire family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Dan Allen family.

At 15, Mr. Allen gave me my first job (Dan's Big Star), the work ethic from that experience along with leadership and guidance provided me and dozens and dozens of others with a firm foundation in family values, integrity, and service to others.

When traveling though Oakhaven, I am always drawn to wonderful and happy thoughts of my days at Dan's Big Star.

Mr. Allen is a great man who touched many lives, having a wornderful impact upon each.

Mrs Allen, DyAnne and Robbie, I will be praying for you. Mr. Allen hired me when I was just 15 years old and I loved working at Dan's Big Star. I had hoped to go to the funeral today but couldn't make it. I would have loved to see you guys.
