Robert Verne Lawson, 83, passed away on May 24, 2011 at the MS Veterans Home in Oxford, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his Swedish parents, Carl John and Helja Helena (Wicklund) Lawson, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. He was a retired cabinetmaker whose hobbies included building model airplanes, square dancing, traveling, camping, Civil War & WWII history. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He leaves his wife of 46 years, June Elizabeth Lawson; 2 daughters, Sherrie L. Fendrych (John) and Janice E. Scott (Michael); 3 granddaughters, Jessica K. Fendrych, Kristin M. Scott and Kimberly J. Scott; extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4th at 2 p.m., Brantley Funeral Home, Olive Branch, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or the National Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
