Samuel Thomas “Tommy” Broadway, Jr., 66, of Independence, died Sunday, March 9th at Baptist Hospital of Desoto. Tommy was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather, hard worker and a true friend. He was born June 19, 1947 to the late Samuel Thomas Broadway and Bonnie Busby Broadway McFarlin in Desoto County. Tommy was a farmer and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Independence. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sowell Broadway, a daughter; Staci Broadway Steen (Michael), a son; Shawn Broadway (Billy Irby), two sisters; Lucy McFarlin Bailey and Darla McFarlin Algee, three grandchildren; Savannah Grace Steen, Chloe Elisabeth Steen and Ellee Ann Irby. Visitation will be 11am – 2pm Thursday, March 13th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the funeral beginning at 2pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
