Sandra Maples Cooper passed away at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital on May 8, 2020. She is preceded in death by her mother, Raylene Mae Maples; her sister, Donna Leigh Maples; and her step-mother, Brenda Maples.

She is survived by her loving husband, Travis; children, Hayley, Dylan (Maggie), and Shelby; and father, Ray.

Sandra also leaves behind a host of friends and loved ones. She was an active member of Looxahoma Church of Christ, where she loved to teach the 2s and 3s class. She also loved to be a part of Vacation Bible School because it gave her an opportunity to love on the children in the community.

Sandra was not only active in the Church, but also active at Jane’s Gym, where she served as a certified spin instructor. She thrived on making other women feel beautiful— both inside and out. She believed that any hard day could be made better with exercise. She was always talking about her ‘girls’ at the gym and how special they were to her.

Sandra, lovingly known as ‘Sunshine’ to her husband, spread sunshine wherever she went. She always wanted people to know how much she loved them, but more importantly, how much God loved them. One of her favorite sayings was “Remember WHO you are, WHOSE you are, and WHO made you.”

Sandra’s husband and children were her life. She exemplified Christ in her role as a wife and mother. She loved her family fiercely and strived to have a home that was centered around Christ. She loved creating new traditions with them, while being sure to include anyone who happened to be in her home at the time.

Sandra was an includer. She never wanted anyone to feel left out. Sandra had a way of making friends with anyone and everyone. It didn’t matter who you were, Sandra was in your ‘corner.’

To say that Sandra will be missed is a gross understatement. There is now a hole in the world that no one else’s presence will ever be able to fill. If Sandra could talk to us right now, she would say to not be sad that’s she’s not here because she has crossed the finish line and received her reward. She would be more worried about you and the condition of your soul. She would want to know if you were sure of your salvation. She would want to make sure you were included in God’s Book of Life.

Sandra was such an encouragement to everyone she met! She truly radiated “Sunshine” every time I saw her. Although I only met her a few years ago it was as if I had known her much longer! Sandra always shared her faith and thru every conversation we had she had scriptures to back up her advice! We jokingly called our talks “Sunday School Spin” after working out! Not only did she push us in our workouts but she encouraged us to push ourselves in our own spiritual walks! She cared for us girls like we were her own and exemplified how to love our own families as she loved her own! She showed us how to love our husbands and children thru the word and encouraged us when we struggled! I will miss her sweet smile and her selfless attitude but I know she is at the feet of Jesus soaking up HIS beloved “Sunshine!”

Sandra will be missed by many. We talked several times about our childhood and growing up. How God changed our lives for the better. She treated my baby boy like her baby boy and any mother would appreciate that. I love You Sandra.

Sandra was the sweetest to my babies while at MSOP. She was loving, kind and a true light of Christ to be around. Our thoughts and prayers are with this sweet family. Love the Horn Family 2006 Graduate of MSOP.

Mrs. Sandra was such a delight and so much fun to be around! I always felt I could be myself around her. When she styled my hair for my wedding, not only did she do an amazing job, we also cut up, laughed and had so much fun. Sandra will be sorely missed. The Cooper and Maple families will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all

Sandra was such a giving person! Sharing her heart, her talents, her faith and her smile with EVERYONE! The memories and the hope of heaven are all we have to fill the ginormous void her passing has left behind. May God bless and comfort her Prince Charming, her dear daddy and her precious children! Thanks for all the haircuts, the fun times and your beautiful example! 💇🏻 💗😢💇🏼‍♂️

Such a blessing to know and love this precious Christian woman. We will cherish the moments we had to share our daughter, Sandra’s birth niece, and to get to know Sandra and her family. Love, Terry and Brenda Harris
