Sandra Moore Hoppen, 84, of Southaven, Mississippi, passed away on October 24, 2026. Born on March 19, 1942, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Sandra was the daughter of the late Charles Ralph Moore and Charleen Waterfield Moore. She graduated from Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana. Sandra met her husband, James Edward Hoppen, at a golf tournament in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, beginning a marriage that would span 62 wonderful years. Together, they made their home primarily in Memphis, Tennessee, and Olive Branch, Mississippi, where they raised their family and built a lifetime of memories. Over the years, the Mississippi Gulf Coast became a special destination for family vacations, creating memories that would be treasured for generations. Early in their marriage, Sandra worked at the Lyceum at the University of Mississippi and later assisted with the family business. Her most treasured role, however, was that of a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Outgoing and social by nature, Sandra loved being surrounded by family and friends. A wonderful cook and gracious hostess, she especially enjoyed preparing meals and bringing loved ones together around the table. Cooking for her family was one of her greatest joys and one of the many ways she expressed her love. She also treasured her friendships and regularly attended the Olive Branch Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes. Sandra was of the Episcopal faith. Her life was marked by a caring heart, a love of family, and the joy she found in bringing people together. She was a devoted grandmother who delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Edward Hoppen; her son, James Clayton Hoppen; her daughter, Margaret Hoppen Nailen (Scott); her grandchildren, James Corey Hoppen, Nathaniel Patrick Nailen, Margaret Nailen Byrd (Simmons), William Elliott Nailen, and Elizabeth Grace Nailen; her great-granddaughter, Gracie Ann Hoppen; and her sister, Lana Carpenter (Allen). Sandra will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, her kindness, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so dearly and the countless memories made around her table. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Sandra's memory to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation at www.nationalpcf.org.
