Sarah was born on November 9, 1947 in Franklin, Virginia to Larkin and Martha Mason. Her father’s work in the road construction industry necessitated frequent moves and school changes. After attending sixteen public schools Sarah graduated from Haywood County (TN) High School in 1965. She graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. Her 42-year nursing career included clinical nursing in Pediatrics, and Neonatal ICU; Clinical Development Coordinator in Home Health, Pediatric, and Neonatal ICU; and Clinical Research Coordinator and Monitor.
Sarah accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of ten and was called into nursing as a ministry and a career. Being a follower of Christ, she ministered with a compassionate spirit in many ways throughout her lifetime, including Sunday School teacher, choir member, youth counselor, grief counselor, and
Women’s Ministries.
Sarah was a passionate “Bama” football fan rarely missing a televised game; but nothing pleased her more than being “Marmee” to her five grandchildren. She was a good friend to many, always greeting others with a smile and sharing her joy.
Sarah was preceded in death by her son Mason Cullen; her father Larkin, and her mother, Martha. She is survived by her husband Dale and three children, Michael Cullen (Dena), Delayne Williams (Shane), and David Rast; her sister, Sheron Farrell (Pat); five grandchildren, Madison Cullen, Mallory Cullen, Graham Williams, Hadleigh Williams, Maggie Williams; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
