Tony Chop, 85, passed away July 16, 2018. He was born to the late Joseph Chop and Thelma Weeks Chop on February 1, 1933 in Louisiana. He was married for sixty-seven years to Jessie Dean Chop who recently passed away May 25, 2018. He is preceded in death by two sisters: Jolyn Chop Powell and Fay Chop. He is survived by two sisters: Freda Chop Greson and Janice Chop Dukes, two brothers: Benny and Bill Chop, one daughter: Sharon Nelms, two grandchildren: Brad Stewart and Melissa Johnson, and two great grand-children: Kaiti and Riley Stewart. He attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Known for his work ethic, he was often imparting advice to young people about the value of hard work and getting a good education. He ran a successful business specializing in hauling heavy machinery. When he wasn’t working, he always had a twenty-dollar bill handy to slip to his grandchildren. He enjoyed grilling a good steak and eating his wife’s delicious cooking. He kept an immaculate yard and enjoyed spending time with his neighbors. The family will receive friends Thursday July 19, 2018 from 10am until the funeral service begins at 11am, all at Brantley Funeral Home of Olive Branch. Interment will follow in Blocker Cemetery.
