Virginia Dye Allen, 82, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013. Virginia was born August 18, 1930, in Pleasant Hill, MS. She was a secretary at Park Avenue Baptist Church, Broadway Baptist Church, and McDonald Brothers. In her second career, Virginia was an accomplished sales professional with US Office Products for over 20 years until she retired in 2001. After retirement, she worked for Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce promoting the community she cherished. She made many friends, touched many lives, and dearly loved her work at the Chamber. She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, loved ballroom dancing, hummingbirds, living in the country, and was a true southern lady. Her passion was preserving and passing on family heritage and community history. She loved the Lord, was a wonderful mom, “Granny” to many, and an inspiration to everyone she met. She attended both Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and New Prospect Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Barry Reynolds Allen, her mother, Lola Stewart Dye, her father, Thomas Owen Dye, her brother, Thomas L. Dye, and a sister, Barbara D. Crocker. She is survived by a sister, Rubye Anglin, of Hernando, MS , a daughter, Jacquelyn A. Reinhardt (Fred) of Taylors, SC, a son, Dennis W. Allen (Leah) of Bartlett, TN, seven grandchildren: Fred W. Reinhardt, (Michelle), Brian A. Reinhardt (Amanda), Nicholas B. Reinhardt (Caroline), Lauren A. Germany (Lee), Lee R. Allen (Jennifer), Craig T. Allen (Amber), Blake J. Allen, and, nine great-grandchildren: Gabe, Liam, Corrie, Analise, Owen, Hannah, Martha, Ryan, and Luke. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 10, 5-8 pm at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. Funeral service will be Friday, January 11, at 11 am at Brantley as well. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
