Virginia Mounce

VIRGINIA S. MOUNCE passed away April 16, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis. She was born October 21, 1921 in White River Junction, VT the daughter of Arthur and Hazel Southwick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernis Mounce. She leaves one daughter, Alaunda Thomas (Charles) with whom she lived; one son, Eric Hart of Woodburn, KY; one brother, Alvin Southwick of Bellow Falls, VT; also, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She graduated from Gardner School of Nursing, Gardner, MA, and received a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Boston College. She worked 20 years as a public health nurse then 38 years in the V.A. Hospital at Tupper Lake, NY, Lexington, KY and Tampa, FL V.A. where she retired as nursing supervisor at the age of 74. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Brantley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the cemetery at Barton United Methodist Church where she was a member.
