Wanda Faye Martin, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 3, 1949, to Bill and Maezell Stokes in Calhoun, MS. Wanda had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in caring for her flowers. If she couldn't be found, chances were she was outside tending to her garden. In her younger years, she also enjoyed playing pool. Above all else, Wanda cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her the greatest joy in life. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Doug Markwell; two children, Tina Douglas, Larry Gene Stokes, and her parents, Bill and Maezell Stokes. Wanda leaves behind her daughter, Heather Brister (Marcus), and her brother, Alton Gene Stokes. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Christopher Jordan Lamb, Destiny Renee Lamb Lax (Nick), Chase Walter Lee Brister, and two great-grandchildren, Oaklynn Renee Lax and Nicholas Logan Lax, Jr.
