William Thomas Sloan, 88, of Southaven, MS went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Alma Jean Sloan; and his sister, Thresa McCallum (Johnny). He is survived by his daughter, Susan Miller (Mark); daughter, Deborah Ammons (Steve); son, William Thomas Sloan, Jr. (Dianne); grandchildren: Lauren Page (Alex), Taylor Miller, Jeremy Ammons (Julie), Melanie Ammons, Preston Sloan (Becky), Savannah McLin (Scott), and Sarah Bean (Chris); great-grandchildren: Ella Woods, Lucy Page, Lily Page, Madison Ammons, Reed Ammons, Keylie Sloan, Graham Sloan, Raymond Bean, Abel Sloan, and Parker McLin; sister, Janice Cullum (Buzzy); sister, Patricia Lewis (Ron); and brother, David Forrester (Martha). Mr. Sloan retired after a long career with D. Canale Company and he loved his job and all the people he worked with and met through his job. In his free time he enjoyed spending time in St. Louis and especially loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was also a NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Mr. Sloan had several pets that he loved, but his bird, PeeWee was very special to him. He enjoyed the outdoors as well. He liked to go fishing and enjoyed cutting the yard on his John Deere tractor. Mr. Sloan loved his family very much and one of his greatest joys in life was being “Papaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Brantley Funeral Home for a time of visitation on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 1-2 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Barton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
