

Willie James Romedy, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 16, 1939, to Imaneal Lopicolo in Marianna, Ark. He was known to many as James. A proud veteran, James honorably served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a long and dedicated career in Quality Assurance Management at Dixico, which later became Bryce. After many years of faithful service, he retired from Bryce.
James was a faithful member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and member of the pulpit committee. His commitment to his faith and church family was evident in the many ways he gave of his time and talents
In his younger years, James enjoyed fishing and hunting. Later in life, he looked forward to spending time with his friends at the YMCA. And if you couldn't find him there, you could almost certainly find him relaxing at home, watching In the Heat of the Night, one of his favorite television shows.
Above all, James was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Maxie B. Romedy, and his mother, Imaneal Lopicolo.
He is survived by his two children, Phoebe Howard (Sam), Benny Romedy; six grandchildren: Kayla Lyles (Terry), Samantha Windham (Andrew), Laura Howard, Brad Romedy (Taylor), Dana Hickerson (Nick), Hannah Brigman (Seth), and 13 great-grandchildren: Brooke Windham, Marlee Grace Windham, William “Trent” Windham, Tyler Hudson Lyles, Oliver Everett Lyles, Maxie Jane Lyles, Hallie Hickerson, Skylar Hickerson, Beau Romedy, Brody Romedy, Blakely Romedy, Cole Brigman, and Rylen Brigman.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, 3115 Old Pigeon Roost Rd. Byhalia, MS 38611.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Meadow Brook Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Byhalia Cemetery in Byhalia, MS.
