Mandy was born on July 21, 1985, in Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 6, the death of her Grandpa McConnell made a significant impact on her life. Experiencing the death of a loved one helped her realize the need for a personal relationship with the Lord. When she was in 3rd grade, she put her faith in Christ during Sunday School at Grace Baptist Church and was baptized the next year. Mandy spent every summer at Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp, which she considered her second home.
For almost 17 years, Mandy worked at Douglas County Health Center as a CNA. She worked with senior residents and made special relationships with these long-term patients.
Mandy was an amazing mother, and her beloved daughter Aly was her world. She enjoyed traveling with friends, spending time with her dogs, shopping, and making crafts with Aly. Mandy was known for her ready smile, hard work ethic, generous nature, selfless character, loyalty, dedication, and deeply caring heart. She took care of her loved ones before taking care of herself. No matter what Mandy was going through, her kind heart blessed those she encountered, and she made everyone around her happy.
Mandy is survived by her daughter Alyanna Storrs, Aly’s father Sterling Storrs, parents David and Gayle McConnell, grandmother Mary Ann McConnell, brother Jesse (and Reesa) McConnell, brother Shane (and Melia) McConnell, stepbrother Kent Draney, nephews Mason, Daxton, and Asher, niece Kalie, and uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Judy (Novotny) McConnell, grandfather Frank McConnell, and grandparents James and Mary Ann Novotny.
