I knew Anna Marie Scheel simply as Aunt Rede -- a nickname bestowed upon her by her little brother Calvin.  To me, Aunt Rede was a role model of the post WWII American working woman who entered the work force and, with little more than a high school diploma, traveled the world, worked her way up the ladder to the level of an executive secretary at one of the country's greatest companies at the time -- General Electric.  

On a personal level, she was a gentle lady, soft spoken and with a delightful sense of humor. She was fun to be with -- like on a vacation to Chicago and a trip to old Playland Park in Council Bluffs where she, my sister Suzanne and I rode "The Bullet" and "Tilt-A-Whirl" until we  we couldn't see straight. We laughed a lot, enjoyed family picnics and played lots of Scrabble. She even taught me how to ballroom dance, a talent at which she excelled.  I loved her, the whole family loved her;  her sweetness, kindness, generosity and caring will be missed.  She was a woman of faith and I'm pretty sure she's in Heaven right now setting up her Scrabble board. Peace and love, dear Aunt.

My great Aunt Rede was just like my grandma to me and I am having a hard time dealing with the loss of her,she was very special to me she was loving, and taught me how to forgive people, even though she went to heaven she is always in my heart and my thoughts Rest In Peace Aunt Rede and I hope you’re dancing and enjoying yourself 💜

Aunt Rede was sweet lady with a sweet soul and generous spirit; always ready to help. 
She never indulged in gossip  and I will always remember her as a peacekeeper.
She always found time to spend with her nieces and nephews  and took a genuine interest in their happiness and well being. 
I remember her taking me to Peony Park and the YMCA to swim when I was a kid, although she probably had better things to do.
I know she loved to dance and I have heard she was quite good. I would have loved to see her Jitterbug!

My memories of Anna Marie span my entire life. I always referred to her as my aunt because my mom (Fern Tyler) used to say that Anna Marie was the sister she never had, even though she was actually her first cousin. I remember going to Family Reunions in Denison and we would car pool with her(because back then, that was a really far away). We would have dinners with her about once a month. Her and mom would go dancing at Peony Park every Tuesday and Roam Inn on Thursdays. I'm sure they are dancing for Jesus right now. You will be missed.

I will always remember Anna Marie as a gracious and caring person....may God rest her soul.

Ms. Anna Marie oh how I miss you but I’ll never forget you or stop loving an missing you, Rede I’ll never forget all the memories with you to the weird ones or to you taking Kaycee and Sam an I to the casino to eat at the restaurant there, I remember running away from you just because we were brats and you yelling for us to come back, and chasing after us. I’ll never forget staying the night at your house and just enjoying our time together, and playing school, always having you make me laugh and I’ll always remember going to your house to eat and calling it the Scheel restaurant, instead of going out to eat or something but that’ll be my favorite place to always eat at even if it’s not longer here, (but we still eat your specials. we have all your yummy recipes.) And I love you Aunt Rede, forever and always. ❤️

We miss you dearly Aunt Rede. You were the greatest aunt, and I’m so so thankful that I got to have you in my life. Thank you for all of our memories, and everything you have done for me. You will always live on in my heart and I will cherish the moments we had together forever. I will never forget when you took me out to eat sushi for my birthday and you ate an entire spoon full of wasabi!!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful name with my beautiful daughter, I can’t wait until she gets big enough for me to tell her all about you and how amazing you were. 

I called her Aunt Rede but she was like a grandma to me. She was a special woman beyond words and would do anything for her family, friends, even strangers. Some of my fondest memories of her we'e going to Peony Park, Okaboji, Colorado, just staying the night at her house and the delicious meals she would cook. One of my favorite memories was when she was around 70 she took my cousin, Justin, and I to a haunted house. There was a tunnel in this haunted house that you had to crawl through and it had a glass floor with live snakes underneath it. She crawled through it like a champ. For the rest of my life I will miss our times together but I know someday I'll see her again.

I remember when my great-great-aunt came to our house and asked my sisters and me if we wanted to go to Perkins for brunch and we said yes. My sister Kaycee and I went with her to Perkins and on the way there she was speeding and she was making us laugh, as she always did. She may have had a lead foot.

we still have so many memories of the one we loved so much Her

My Aunt Rede, as I've always known her to be called, was always a special friend and confidante.  When I was small among some of my favorite things to do was call Aunt Rede and invite her and Grandma Scheel to a Sunday dinner of roast beef and mashed potatoes.  She would ask me if my mom knew about the invitation,  and I would always say yes.  Then when I hung up I would tell my mom they were coming to dinner.  Mom was always good about doing it, even though she found out about it last. I've always had timing issues. Good thing I was spoiled!

Anna Marie was a lovely but fun lady. She was my best friend in Omaha. I moved back home three years ago but we stayed in touch with phone calls. The last time I talked to her we had a good talk although it was a struggle sometimes, she still had her sense of humor. I am so thankful we became friends. I will miss her. She loved to dance and now is dancing in heaven. I'll see you again, dear friend.
