She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Col. Louis (Lou) M. Andersen, retired US Air Force; and her mother Elsie Maud Denny.
Barbara grew up in the rural countryside of England. After her mother passed away when Barbara was 10, she was raised by her Grandmother Rosa and then her Aunt Gladys. After she completed school, she worked in the town of Bungay, England. It was there that she met the love of her life at a dance. Barbara and Lou were married at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in 1957 and had three children. Lou was transferred across the U.S., so the young family traveled extensively. They returned to Omaha after Lou’s retirement from the Air Force.
Barbara valued family and faith more than anything else. She was an impeccable homemaker and filled her family’s life with style and grace. She was a lifelong member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. Barbara was a very talented artist and enjoyed many things from sewing and needlework to crafts and painting. She was always ready to try something new. Everyone in her family has enjoyed one or more of her beautiful, knitted throws as well as many holiday decorations.
Even though Barbara never returned to England, she loved its history and pageantry and followed the royal family. Barbara was a strong, blunt, optimistic, loving and devoted wife, mom and nana. She was dearly loved and will always be missed.
Barbara is survived by her twin sons Louis (Anne) Andersen of Omaha and James (Tracy) Andersen of Punta Gorda Florida; and her daughter Linda (Graham) McIntyre of Lake Anna Virginia; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
