

Betty Jean Koppit, 93, went to be with her Lord and savior on the morning of March 26, 2026 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Neb. Betty was born October 11, 1932 in Alliance, Nebraska to Emma (Dahmer) and Leonard Cook. She had seven sisters.
Betty grew up in a loving home. They did not have a lot growing up, but they made the most of what they had. After graduating Alliance High School she moved to Omaha and lived with her uncles. She met George (Bud) Koppit, Sr. at the Walther League at Zion Lutheran Church and they were married there May 10, 1952 in Omaha. They had three children born to their union, Deb, Cindy, and George, Jr.
Betty worked for 30 years at Mutual of Omaha, retiring in 1987. She loved family above everything else. Betty was a tremendous cook and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved tending to her flowers and being with her family. With her husband Bud, they took trips around the country in their camper. Betty had a strong faith and that remained throughout her life. Betty also loved games and puzzles, especially Yahtzee. She was always known to put up a good fight in Yahtzee. Betty also enjoyed coloring in her later years. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and leaves a legacy of love.
She is survived by her children Deb Flenker of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Cindy (Doug) Smith of Hiawatha, Iowa, and George (Janene) Koppit of Blair. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Nate (Megan) Flenker of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mitch (Catherine) Koppit of Plymouth, Minn., Dustin Koppit of Omaha, Mindy (Eric) Johnson of Lincoln, Josh (Krystin) Flenker of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Shawn (Kayla) Smith of Crookston, Minn., Anna (Justin) Bingham of Bennington, Katie (Brad) Forney of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Carleigh (Seth) Golden of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, a sister Wanda (Glen) Pennington of Orlando, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Leonard Cook; her husband, George (Bud) Koppit; sisters, Arlene Scanlan, Mary Sue "Susie" Smith, Helen Ridgeway, Margaret Phillips, Joyce Bergfield, and Nancy Davidson; and a son-in-law, John Flenker.
Visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, on April 1, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Funeral service will be live streamed via https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c26035492470077.
She will be interred at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha next to her husband George (Bud).
