Catherine was my father's cousin. As a child and then when my own children were young we always enjoyed our visits with Catherine. Whether in Beatrice, where my grandfather, her brother lived, or in Omaha she always had wonderful stories to share, as well as her abundance of love. I remember spending time with her after Great-Aunt Jesse passed. She still was more concerned about my mother and my children and how we were doing. She shared many family pictures and family stories with them and her precious keepsakes. A favorite memory of mine is when my son Drew was born she drove over to see him. Even though he was only 4 months old he was smitten with her and she with him. The two carried on like they were old friends. The last time I visited her at Life Care she did not recognize me but she held my hand and sang to me. So I think she did know I was there. May she rest in beautiful sleep. Sending Our Love for Always. Carol Sue Chapman Cox, and my children: Angela Rochelle Ruh, Breanne Nichole Ruh Pflanz, and Drew Chapman Newton.

I was an associate dean at UNO during Cay's tenure. She was a member of UNO's English department. I picked her as one of the first counselors for our university office - it was a great fit and she severed with distinction her her post. We never regretted our decision to hire her. She was very gifted in dealing with her students. I enjoyed visiting with her during my days as an associate dean. One of the best decisions I ever made!!

Cay Griesel was a dear friend and colleague at UNO where she served for many years as freshman counselor while teaching in the English department. She was also a devoted long-time member of Lowe Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was respected by students and faculty alike. We enjoyed visiting with her until her hearing failed. May she now rest in peace.

I am sorry to hear of Catherine's passing. Catherine was a grandmother to myself and my brothers. When I started having children she was overjoyed to hold my babies and play them. I lived next door for many years and remember she always had a stock of individual ice cream treats and andies mints for us. She shared my love of dolls and unique items. I remember the porcelain eggs she had sitting on her table that were gorgeous colors. I remember going over to her house when I was upset at my own. We would talk, have a piece of candy and then she would send me home till the next time. Catherine was a friend to all in the neighborhood but will always hold a special place in my heart. She is missed by all and I know we will be reunited someday in Christ.
