Born November 14, 1947 in Omaha, NE to Frank and Mary Samla who precede her. She lived in Omaha all her life graduating from Benson High School in 1966 and a two-year business school. Cathy worked for Western Electric-Omaha Works-Bell System, AT&T Technologies, Lucent Technologies, Avaya Inc., and Connectivity Solutions, retiring in 2006.
Cathy married Dennis L. Swedberg on October 17, 1981 at Fort Street Christian Church. They welcomed two daughters, Sarah (Kirk) Wayman in 1982 and Andrea (Adam) Ryan in 1988. The family lived in the Millard area of Omaha for 40 years. She is survived by her husband, her two daughters and their spouses, her brother, Jerry (Patricia) Samla, her grandchildren, Aubrey and Blake Wayman, and Adalyn, Anna, and Abel Ryan, as well as an uncle, George, numerous cousins, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Cathy will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 CENTER ST, OMAHA, NE 68106. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home.
