Passed away October 13 2015 at the age of 86. He spent his life as a plumber and ultimately became a Master Plumber and owner of Charlie Voris Plumbing. Besides being a plumber, he could fix and/or build anything. Whenever a project exceeded one of his children’s abilities, Grandpa was called in. Charlie was active in the PTA, Scouts, and Indian Guides when his children were in grade school. He was appointed an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy. He was a Mason and Shriner (Tangier Temple). Although he was never formally taught, he played the bugle in the Shriner’s Drum and Bugle Corps. He was responsible for adding to the family lexicon saying like "Off like a truckload of turkeys to the market" and "Only a lazy man tries to carry all their stuff to their worksite in one load", plus the two things you need to know to be a plumber. He was a huge Cornhusker fan with season tickets for many years, even his grandchildren who lived in other states were Nebraska fans. He lived in Omaha for most of his life until health issues prompted moves to Silver Ridge Assisted Living (Gretna) and Papillion Manor. Born April 19, 1929 in Omaha, he was the son of the late Gaylord Kerr Voris and Alfreda Wilhelmina Voris of Omaha. Charlie was preceded by his siblings Jack, Gaynel, Patricia, Donald, and Alice. He is survived by his wife of 66 years B. Joan Voris; children, Steven C. (Nancy) Voris of Papillion, Diane J. (Tom) Dunham of Eau Claire, WI, John C. (Cindy) Voris of Blythewood, SC; grandchildren, Brian J. Dunham, Elizabeth J. Davis, Eric J. Dunham, Andrew C. Voris and Cody C. Voris; great-grandchildren, Daniel V. Davis, Charlotte B. Davis, John C. Voris and Declan T. Dunham. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Shriners Hospitals for children.
