Claudia graduated from Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska, and went on to earn both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She devoted her entire teaching career to the Millard Public School System, where she taught at Bryan Elementary for many years until her retirement in 2003.
Beyond the classroom, Claudia enjoyed reading and time with family, friends and neighbors. She will be remembered for her kind disposition, warm smile and generous nature, especially toward the many students she taught over her career.
Claudia is survived by her daughter, Lori Garman (Bob) of Texas; her son, Rob Matthews (Simi) of California; and her grandchildren, Ali Garman and Lane Garman, both of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip Arnold Gere and Kathryn O’Neil Gere.
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Westlawn-Hillcrest (5701 Center Street) in Omaha, Nebraska. The visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, with a graveside memorial service immediately thereafter.
