Delores "Susie" Kocourek

Delores Ann “Susie” (Casey) Kocourek, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. Known for her love of family and fun–loving spirit, Susie was a dedicated wife and mother, and a cherished grandmother, aunt and sister.

Born in Omaha on December 7, 1935, to James and Ruby (Hiatt) Casey, Susie graduated from South High in June 1953, where she was active in German club and as a teacher’s aid.

Susie worked at Metropolitan Utilities District for 39 years, going from order clerk to claims manager, and was instrumental in establishing the employee credit union.

She married her beloved husband of 47 years Charles “Chuck” Kocourek on August 19, 1961, and their son Charles David “Chuck”/“Boo” Kocourek was born on July 29, 1968.

Susie was a Douglas County Fair blue-ribbon dollmaker, she loved planting flowers, hosting parties and celebrations, and going to Horseman’s to bet on the horses.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband; her father and mother; her stepfather, Glenn Anderson; and brothers and sisters, James Casey, Phyllis Anderson and Dale Anderson.

She is survived by her son, Chuck (Susan) Kocourek; grandson, Cadyn Kocourek; siblings, Thomas (Kathy) Casey, Bruce Anderson, Dennis (Suzi) Anderson, Duane (Sandy) Anderson, Joyce (Anderson) Ortmann, Larry (Ruth) Anderson, Vernon (Peggy) Anderson, and Shane (Mike) Grathwohl; and many nieces and nephews.

Susie lived a beautiful life filled with friendship, laughter, and gatherings made special by her thoughtful and welcoming spirit, and will be missed.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home on May 17, 2026, at 1:00 pm -- family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm. Susie will be laid to rest at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
