Sometimes in life we fool ourselves to thinking that our loved ones will be there forever. It is hard to imagine you not being there in the flesh at Mahoney or other family gatherings. Though I am filled with grief and sadness that you are gone, I find comfort that I was able to bring you a Frosty or two while you were in the hospital; that I got to hold your hand and hear, "you look real sharp" one last time and hear you say "I love you" one last time. You made sure I knew to pass that along to the rest of my sisters! I find peace that you are free, and will continue to find joy in all the memories, stories and wisdom you passed along. Love you, Grandpa.

I'll never forget getting a Nebraska Cornhuskers license plate snuck onto my first car as Mark and I drove from Ohio to NM (we really laughed out loud when we discovered it)!  Uncle Smokey,  we feel like we spent a ton of time with you because of how generous you were with us... This world will miss you.  Hope you won't be trying to drive buses in Heaven - maybe a Tesla or Lamboghini!!!
