Betty was born in the Philippines and became a professional singer with her sister, Nena, at a young age. While performing at the American Legion Post on Clark, AB, Philippines, she met her husband, James. As an Air Force wife, she and her family were stationed at numerous Air Force Bases throughout the states and the Philippines and Guam. She was an avid golfer and won many tournaments in the Philippines, New Jersey, Illinois and Nebraska. Betty’s lively personality will be dearly missed by family and numerous friends.
Preceded in death by parents, Felemon and Gregoria Abejero; sister, Regina “Nena” Aberjero-DeChavez.
Survived by husband, James L. Johnson, Sr.; children, Mario (Irene) Abejero, Betty (Richard) Flores, James L. (Michelle) Johnson, Jr., Phillip Johnson, and Belma Johnson; sister, Gavina “Bellie” Chartier; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
Funeral Service Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10AM at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home. Visitation Thursday from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Interment, Hillcrest.
Memorials suggested to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or donate blood and/or platelets to the American Red Cross.
